I recently led the redesign and modernisation of the BBC’s comments experience, working as the sole UX designer on the project. The updated designs are now live on BBC News and Sport article pages, improving the experience for millions of users every day.

Originally brought in to consult on a small flow update, I identified broader design and accessibility issues and successfully made the case to expand the scope. With support from the Participation team, I drove the project forward, delivering a fully reimagined, modern, and inclusive comments experience.

Enabling audiences to be heard is a core part of the BBC’s mission. Comments are essential for boosting public engagement and representing diverse viewpoints – and this redesign ensures the experience meets the needs of today’s users while aligning with modern BBC GEL standards.
